Woke up to now power on the island. That means no coffee, no boiled egg but breakfeast with candellight. As the receptionist told us, this is not uncommon on Svalbard. It poses no broblem during the summer, but might get ugly in winter.
A fun fact she told us: There is an evacuation plan if the energy is gone for too long. Then the people will be flown out… understandable with the temeratures you can get in winter…
Only the pier, the hospital and the Radisson Blu hotel had energy…
