Yeah… I slept until 7:00. 🙂 Today is a Geocaching day.

After a shower and packing all I need for today I leave the hostel to get to the area of Fremont. No breakfast (bagel with peanut butter and jelly is OK every other day). Just get to the bus stop, wait for the no. 62 bus and 2.75 USD later am I on the way. The bus takes about 25 minutes to get there.

Why Fremont? It is a little bit like a tour to a holy place. In Fremont is the international Geocaching headquarter. If you do geocaching and you are in the area, you go there. Special souvenir, stuff you can see and memorabilia you wouldn’t get otherwise. 🙂 A little bit special but hobby is hobby.

The first thing to do is taking all the headquarter caches around the office. There are 9 caches that can be found. At the first cache I meet a woman with a coffee who points me to the cache box. She works at the headquarter. Easy find and firs log. Now it is just planning a route and find all caches. After the first three I decide that a Jump bike is much faster and easier. The next caches are easy, but some way to travel. find a troll that holds a VW bug… even he hides a cache. Two caches make me do several steps. This area is official the “center of the universe” – sure thing.

It starts to drizzle a little bit. But on the bike I can escape fast. Last cache is at the library, where I will hold my event later. But first I get some lunch at a Turkish restaurant. Good food with an OK price tag.

Just a small moment to my event. A Starbucks coffee and the first guest is already waiting. There will be a lot of people. From Geocaching Headquarters they come. 10 I think. All taking a tour to meet and greet. I get a lot of personal travelbugs. Exchange of histories and tips. I learned about the Lab caches. I have to try that.

After we are finished I go down to headquarters. One floor up and the receptionists greet me extremely friendly. I do the last HQ cache and get the golden fulfillment stamp. Something to frame at ho,e and the souvenir. Now I have to find the HQ cache that gives another souvenir. A photo booth with funny pictures to pit into the logbook.

Hundreds of travelbugs. I discover a few of them and take pictures of the special ones like from the ISS. Has to be discovered. The ladies take photos of me in front of the HQ sign and I buy some merchandise for home. Can’t do without. 🙂 Time to go and see what to do the rest of the day.

The Lab cache app is installed and there is one around the Space Needle. That one I will take. Bussride downtown. Raining a little. The cache makes me walk all around the park answering questions to stations there. Finishing it, I check Project GC and seen that I have done 8 different caches today. There is a challenge to do 10 different in a day. Can I achieve that? I find an easy earth cache and take a shared Uber in a suburb to take it. Just one more. In Fermont is a Wherigo cache that looks easy. Next Uber and a e-bike rental to speed things up. Nice cache and after 50 minutes I sign the log and claim the 10th different cache today. Yeah!

Back to the city by bus, a small fast food snack and back to the hostel. Achived a lot today. Bed with some writing and video before I switch off the light.
