I cannot wait to finish working on the 7th August and get into my car to Ålesund.
I have booked a Smartrom at the airport, which costs me 699 NOK (about 69 USD) for a night. The rooms are basic, but have everything you need. Not to mention that the plane leaves at 6:30 and I don’t want to get up at 2 in the night to drive to the airport.
From there the long journey will begin. Starting in Ålesund with a short hop to Amsterdam and then the long flight from Amsterdam to Portland. I think I might have to through immigration and get my luggage there and check in again before I go to Seattle for the night (and driving back to Portland the next day – stupid, but I turned around my plans).
Then it will be geocaching for some days. The original stash near Portland of course with a visit of the city the day after. Then up to Seattle again in my rental car and doing the APE cache, the HQ Geotour 2.0 and a visit at HQ with an meet and greet event in the park beforehand.
And then a little detour to Calgary, meeting Karen and Kyle for the Mega Event north of Calgary, before I start my last week with a flight to the mile high city Denver. There I will stay until the 25th before I have to get back to Norway (via Minneapolis and Amsterdam).
Of course the Mingo cache in Kansas is on the list (again a rental car), and the states of Nebraska and Wyoming. On top I want to explore the area around Colorado springs, like Pikes Peak (if I dare the ride op there), the Manitou Cliff Dwellings and so much more to see. I am also looking into tickets for Baseball if I find some.
Preparations are on the way. Report coming up of course!
