After a good nights sleep I start into a fresh day of activity in Hong Kong. Plans for today are the geocaching event i organized at noon and to explore Hong Kong island. After a nice breakfast I pack my gear, all my travel bugs I took with me from Europe, the GPS without a working map and leave the hotel. Going outside I am meeting a wall off heat. The humidity is unbelievable. On my skin is half a bottle of sun blocker, my Australian kangaroo leather hat is on top and I hope that is enough to survive the day.

I catch a bus down to the piers. I want to check out my planed trip to Macau tomorrow. Easy enough to find the terminal. A fast check og departures and I go out to find my first geocache in Hong Kong. The one I chose is close by. GC4CJZW – The Western marked. A tiny nano that was easy to find, when you know how to read the cache description. One more country checked on my project-gc profile (I find out that to get diamond status for Hong Kong I have to find a cache in all of three regions in Hong Kong. Challenge accepted). I continue towards the waterfront an swing west towards the meeting point at the Sun Yat Sen statue. My event starts at 12 and there is still an hour left. After taking some photos I find a seat in the shadow and drown myself i the first bottle of water for the day. Some guidebook reading and then it is time to prepare.

At 12, there i one guy at the meeting. A cacher from New Zealand who lives in Hong Kong. As suspected, to have an event in the middle of the week at noon is maybe not the best time, but that was the time that was most suitable for me. Some minutes later another cacher from Hong Kong arrives. She took her lunch break to get there. I am very happy that anybody showed up. I get a lot of tips about caching in Hong Kong, some recommendations and tips for caching in China, should it be an option. Some travel bugs change hands and after a little over half an hour we part ways.

Thanks for meeting up guys. It is much appreciated. My first event held outside of Norway. I think I will do that on every tour I take.
